Send or Forward an email to a Teams Channel

Teams Channels are capable of receiving email.

When a message is received by a Channel a new thread is started.

When you reply to an email message in a Channel, it creates a conversation about the email.  Note it does not send an email to the original sender.

Finding the email address of a Channel is easy and detailed below.

But first this email integration functionality needs to be enabled by an admin.

Enabling Email Integration

Email integration needs to be enabled at the Teams Organisation level.

Teams admin center –> Org-wide settings –> Teams settings

Allow users to send emails to a channel email address needs to be On (it is by default).

Accept channel email from these SMTP domains gives you the ability to ‘white list’ the domains you want to allow to send or forward mails to Channels.

Sender domains can also be explicitly set at Channel level, but not if you specify them at the Teams Organisation level.
